Remembering music legend TINA TURNER

Sad news tonight, Besties. Queen of Rock’n’Roll Tina Turner has sadly passed away at her home in Switzerland following a long illness, aged 83.

Turner rose to fame alongside her husband Ike in the 1960s, with some of her biggest hits including ‘Proud Mary’ and ‘River Deep, Mountain High’. Then following their divorce, she found greater success as a solo artist in the 1980s.

The winner of eight Grammy Awards, Turner was initially inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame with Ike in 1991 and then in 2021 as a solo artist.

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical features the star’s incredible music and tells her story from humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into a rock 'n roll star. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd with a book by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Prins, the musical received its world premiere in April 2018 in the West End, and has since enjoyed productions on Broadway, in Hamburg, Utrecht, Madrid, and Sydney, plus a US tour.

Our thoughts are with Tina’s family and friends at this difficult time.
