Remembering Broadway star Rebecca Luker
Three-time Tony award nominee Rebecca Luker has sadly died at the age of 59, following a year-long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Luker made her Broadway debut in The Phantom of the Opera when she took over from original Christine, Sarah Brightman. She has a string of Broadway credits including The Music Man, Show Boat and Mary Poppins; all shows in which she was nominated for a Tony Award.
She was most recently seen on Broadway in Fun Home, with Footloose at the Kennedy Center in 2019 marking her last theatre credit.
Luker’s album All The Girls will be released on Christmas Day and features duets with her longtime friend, Sally Wilfert.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
