It has been announced that actor Gary Waldhorn, best known for playing Councillor David Horton in The Vicar of Dibley, has passed away at the age of 78.

Waldhorn also had a successful stage career where he performed appeared in the RSC’s Much Ado About Nothing, All's Well That Ends Well (with Judi Dench) and Good, the latter of which also transferred to Broadway.

He also starred alongside David Tennant in Black Comedy in the West End, and played the title role in Henry IV at the Old Vic.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
