Release date announced for Netflix film adaptation of TICK, TICK…BOOM!

It has been announced that the new musical film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s tick, tick…boom! will be released on Netflix on 19 November.

Directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical tells the semi-autobiographical story of an aspiring composer named Jon, who lives in New York City in 1990, who is worried he has made the wrong career choice to be part of the performing arts.

The cast of the film includes Andrew Garfield as Jonathan Larson, Vanessa Hudgens as Karessa Johnson, Alexandra Shipp as Susan, Judith Light as Rosa Stevens, Robin de Jesus as Michael, Joanna Adler as Molly, Joshua Henry as Roger, Alex D Jennings as Lifeguard, Lauren Marcus as Donna, Marie Rose Baramo (Fly girl), Jared Loftin and Kenita Miller in roles to be announced and Bradley Whitford, who will take on the role of Stephen Sondheim in the film.

The film has a screenplay by Steven Levenson, with musical supervision by Steven Gizicki, and choreography by Ryan Heffington.

tick, tick…boom! will also be presented in select cinemas from 12 November 2021.
