Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced the full cast for the UK premiere of musical comedy Shucked, which plays at the venue from 10 May-14 June.
With a book by Robert Horn, music & lyrics by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, and direction by Jack O'Brien, the cast includes the previously announced Monique Ashe-Palmer as Storyteller 1, Ben Joyce as Beau, Sophie McShera as Maizy, Georgina Onuorah as Lulu, Keith Ramsay as Peanut, Matthew Seadon-Young as Gordy, and Steven Webb as Storyteller 2, alongside Jonathan Andrew Hume (Guys and Dolls, Bridge Theatre) as Grandpa, swings Jed Berry (Wicked, UK tour), Nathaniel Purnell (The Time Traveller’s Wife, West End), Rachel Rawlinson (SIX, West End), and Mia Shelbourne (professional debut), and ensemble members: Taila Halford (School of Rock, International tour), Ross Harmon (Little Piece of You: An Atypical Musical in Concert, West End), Claudia Kariuki (Sister Act, West End), Ying Ue Li (My Fair Lady, Curve), Tom Oliver (The Little Big Things, @sohoplace), Gleanne Purcell-Brown (Pippin: 50th Anniversary Concert, West End), and Toyan Thomas-Browne (MJ, West End).
Maizy and Beau are getting hitched, when the corn that protects their small community starts to die. The town needs answers. But who will dare to venture beyond the borders of Cob County?
Including the knockout songs ‘Woman of the World’, ‘Somebody Will’ and ‘Independently Owned’, this Broadway hit about an unlikely hero, an unscrupulous con artist, and a battle for the heart and soil of a small town, is not to be missed.
The creative team includes casting director Jill Green CDG, costume designer Tilly Grimes, music supervisor, orchestrator and arranger Jason Howland, choreographer Sarah O’Gleby, set designer Scott Pask, musical director Katy Richardson, sound designer John Shivers, and lighting designer Japhy Weideman.
