Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre confirm initial principal casting & the creative team for CAROUSEL

Principal Carousel Cast

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre have today announced the initial principal casting for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, running at the venue from 31 July-25 September 2021.

The company will be led by Carly Bawden as Julie Jordan, Declan Bennett as Billy Bigelow, John Pfumojena as Enoch Snow, Joanna Riding as Nettie Fowler and Natasha May Thomas as Louise Bigelow.

Artistic Director Timothy Sheader will direct the piece, with choreography by Drew McOnie, set design and co-costume design by Tom Scutt, co-costume design by Molly Einchcomb, lighting by Aideen Malone, sound by Nick Lidster, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Tom Deering.

Sheader said: “As with our previous reimagining of classic musicals, I am excited to remove the rose-tinted specs and examine this amazing piece through a 2021 lens. With new orchestrations by Tom Deering and Drew McOnie’s distinctive choreographic language rethinking the role of dance in the storytelling, we look forward to inviting a new audience to Carousel. It’s also important to us that, because of the story and content of Carousel, we are able to support the vital work of Refuge”.
