Rare performance of John Bucchino's musical revue IT’S ONLY LIFE announced
&Piano Music Festival, the annual festival of music in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire celebrating classical song and musical theatre, presents a rare opportunity to experience American Musical Theatre songwriter John Bucchino’s musical revue, It’s Only Life, for one night only on 24 May.
The revue features some of Bucchino’s most loved songs, written over a span of 30 years including ‘Grateful’, ‘Unexpressed’ & ‘This Moment’. His shows have been performed on and off-broadway, and his songs have been recorded by musical theatre stars including Liza Minnelli, Kristen Chenoweth & Billy Porter.
A stellar cast of five singers will perform the songs, including Luke Bayer (There’s Something About Jamie, RENT, Diva: Live from Hell!), Gillian Hardie (42 Balloons, Mamma Mia, Kinky Boots), Stephen Weller (Martin Guerre, Les Miserables), Andrew Ewart, and Lizzie Buckingham, accompanied by Artistic Director Christopher Pulleyn on piano.
Artistic Director Chris Pulleyn said: “I discovered John Bucchino’s songs about 8 years ago and have never been able to let them go since. It’s Only Life is an exquisite collection of some of his best songs, that explore so perfectly the situations, emotions and relationships that we go through in our busy, complicated lives today. I’m so delighted that &Piano has been able to put on a rare opportunity to hear Bucchino’s songs live, performed by a fantastic bunch of wonderful singers. If you love Jason Robert Brown or Stephen Sondheim, then you’ll love John Bucchino, and he really deserves to be more recognised and known in the UK.”
