Originally broadcast live on Sky Arts, Punchdrunk’s original drama The Third Day: Autumn will now be available to rewatch on the theatre company’s website.

The 12 hour theatrical experience originally ran from 9.30am – 9.30pm and reached over one million viewers. The Third Day: Autumn features Jude Law and Katherine Waterston, with Florence Welch from band Florence and the Machine as a cameo. The piece follows the events of a single day all in real time. It is captured as an ‘as-live’ piece in one continuous take. The Third Day was designed to be the world’s first immersive TV series, with Autumn intended to be watched with a live audience in attendance but due to lockdown, it became a live theatrical broadcast.

Blurring the lines of fantasy and reality The Third Day : Autumn is co-directed by founder and artistic director of Punchdrunk, Felix Barrett and The Third Day : Summer director Marc Munden. The piece was also the recipient of a BAFTA nomination.

The Third Day consists of three separate but interconnected stories. Autumn was the theatrical broadcast, with Summer and Winter forming episodes 1-3 and 4-6 respectively. The piece is created by Dennis Kelly and Felix Barrett and is a co-production between Sky and HBO.

Founded by Artistic Director Felix Barrett, Punchdrunk is a world-renowned company whose work is recognised internationally as pioneering game-changing ways for audiences to experience culture. Punchdrunk has twenty years experience developing its signature form of large-scale, design-led, building-based theatrical experiences, in which audiences roam freely across epic and sensory theatrical worlds. The company’s infectious and individualised format rejects the passive obedience usually expected of audiences, inviting them to rediscover the childlike excitement of exploring the unknown.

If you wish to relive or watch the full 12-hour experience for the first time, it is available to watch by clicking here
