Producers casting for Netflix adaptation of Broadway musical 13

Following a casting call sent out on Twitter yesterday, new information has been revealed about the forthcoming Netflix adaptation of Broadway musical, 13.

Producers are currently searching for cast members aged between 12-16, with a playing age of 13. They are also trying to find someone to play the character of Archie, “a male-identifying teenager with muscular dystrophy. who uses a wheelchair or scooter.” Applicants must have a strong singing voice and individuals with muscular dystrophy are encouraged to apply.

The musical boasts a book by Robert Horn with music/lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. The film will be directed by Tamra Davis (Crossroads, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and is expected to start rehearsals in March 2021 in Toronto, ahead of filming commencing in June.

A release date for the movie musical is yet to be announced.
