Playbill Pride announces OUTtakes series & PROGRESS OF PRIDE SPECTACULAR
Playbill Pride have announced a four-part series of interviews and performances by LGBTQIA+ Broadway performers, OUTtakes, premiering on Playbill.com weekly from 1-22 June, culminating with The Progress of Pride Spectacular on 26 June.
Offering an intimate look at Pride on Broadway, each episode features an artist and activist sharing stories of what Pride looks like through their eyes and performing songs that celebrate their personal connection with Pride. Featured performers include Anthony Rapp (If/Then, Rent) on 1 June, Caitlin Kinnunen (The Prom, Bridges of Madison County) on 8 June, Max Crumm (Disaster!, Emojiland) on 15 June and Peppermint (Head Over Heels, RuPaul’s Drag Race) on 22 June.
The Progress of Pride Spectacular on 26 June is a virtual gathering to reflect upon and celebrate the history of Pride while acknowledging the continued fight for education, equality, equity, visibility and diversity within the LGBTQIA+ community. The Progress of Pride Spectacular will be hosted by Lea DeLaria (On the Town, Orange is the New Black) and will feature performances by DeLaria, BD Wong (M. Butterfly, Jurassic World), L Morgan Lee (A Strange Loop, The Danish Girl) and Alex Newell (Once on This Island, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist).
The event will also feature special appearances by Blake Hammond, Brad Bradley, Christine Dwyer, Claybourne Elder, Eric Ulloa, Harvey Fierstein, J. Cameron Barnett, Jenn Colella, Jerry Mitchell, Kathryn Gallagher, Mars Rucker, Nathan Lee Graham and Vishal Vaidya.
The 60-minute celebration will air here and Playbill’s YouTube channel, with proceeds going to Heritage of Pride (Pride NYC).
