Pilot Theatre announce the cast for the world stage premiere of THE BONE SPARROW

Pilot Theatre have announced casting for the world premiere of S.Shakthidharan’s adaptation of Zana Fraillon’s novel The Bone Sparrow, which tours from February to April.

The cast includes Yaamin Chowdhury as Subhi, Mary Roubos as Jimmie, Elmi Rashid Elmi as Eli, Jum Farug as Duck, Kiran L Dadlani as Maa, Siobhan Athwal as Queenie, Devesh Kishore as Harvey/Ba/Nasir and Mackenzie Scott as Beaver.

The Bone Sparrow tells the story of Subhi, a refugee born in an Australian permanent detention centre after his mother fled her violent homeland. As he grows, his imagination gets bigger too until it is bursting at the limits of his world. When he meets Jimmie, a scruffy impatient girl from the other side of the hours bringing a notebook written by the mother she lost, she relies on him to read it and help her to unravel her family history. Together they try to find a way to freedom, having to be braver than they had ever been before.

This production marks the third collaboration between Pilot Theatre, Derby Theatre, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Mercury Theatre Colchester, and York Theatre Royal who teamed up in 2018 to develop theatre for younger audiences.

The Bone Sparrow will open at York Theatre Royal on 25 February, running until 5 March, before visiting Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds, Derby Theatre, Mercury Theatre Colchester, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, and Theatre Peckham.
