Award-winning Phizzical Productions have partnered with SONY TV UK to reach out into communities UK wide and unearth the next biggest Bollywood star who will take to the stage in Bombay Superstar, a new Bollywood musical set in the sizzling disco era of the 1970s.
Phizzical and SONY TV are looking for singers who can sing in Hindi, and are interested in acting in a musical theatre to star in this spectacular stage show. Auditions will be held in London on 11 July, Leicester on 17 July and Coventry on 18 July.
Written by Samir Bhamra, Bombay Superstar - a co-production with Phizzical Productions, Belgrade Theatre Coventry and the New Wolsey Theatre - is a glamourous and scandalous story in the heart of the biggest film industry in the world, Bollywood. Blurring the lines between reel and real-life events, this catchy retro musical is a passionate tale of a star-crossed romance between a fiery rising star and her married co-star which thrills and scandalises their star-struck fans. Bombay Superstar is delivered in English and sung in Hindi with subtitles throughout the show to allow accessibility for audiences throughout the country.
Head of Marketing UK & Europe for SONY Pictures Networks, Miyrah Mistry, said: “SONY TV is excited to continue their partnership with Phizzical Productions this year for the spectacular new stage show Bombay Superstar. There is so much talent that exists within the South Asian community in the UK. It has been a tough few years for everyone, and it is great to be working with Phizzical Productions to present this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone to star in Bombay Superstar and train under some of the finest actors and singers in the industry. So if you think you are a good actor, can sing, or know friends or relatives who say they can, now is your chance to prove it and come along to the auditions. We look forward to seeing you there!”
