Oxford Playhouse announces TOGETHER AGAIN season

Oxford Playhouse will re-open its doors for its journey out of lockdown on Friday 28 May 2021, it has announced today. The Together Again Season will see the likes of Ralph Fiennes take to the stage, and running alongside the season will be a full programme of events, workshops and activities for audiences young and old to take part in.

The season will open with the Donmar Warehouse UK tour of Blindness which will run from Friday 28 May – Saturday 5 June. Then, re-scheduled from May 2020, Rhum & Clay’s War of the Worlds will finally make it to the stage.

In July 2021, Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story The Woman in Black will have a week long run from Monday 19 – Saturday 24 July.

As part of the Together Again series, there will also be Together Again for Great Comedy, which will see comedians Russell Howard, Adam Buxton and Michael Spicer take to the stage, all of which are rescheduled dates from last year.

Charming family productions will start in May half term with The Secret Garden Experience, which will bring Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic to life with a unique interactive experience. Science favourite Brainiac will bring its exploding dustbins and all of the stunts that you are unable to do at home in July, and the Musical Youth Company of Oxford will present a celebration of musical theatre songs with You Can’t Stop the Beat.

Joint Directors/CEOs of Oxford Playhouse, Louise Chantal & Vanessa Lefrancois, said: “The opening Together Again season is one of the most exciting in the rich history of Oxford Playhouse. It’s jam-packed with the very best theatre, comedy and family shows, and builds on the extensive digital streaming and online participation work we have delivered over the last year.   After a ‘Year Like No Other’, we are delighted to be back on Beaumont Street, welcoming artists and audiences through our doors.  Over the last 12 months, we’ve learnt new skills, embraced new ways of working, delivered shows in innovative ways and met new audiences. We can’t wait to welcome old and new friends back to the Playhouse this Spring and finally be Together Again. We’re back!”
