Oxford Playhouse announce new play small hours is to be streamed online next week
IF Oxford and Oxford Playhouse have today announced that Mandala Theatre’s production of Ava Wong Davis’ new play, small hours, will be available to watch online from 19-25 October.
The 50-minute play explores the mystery of the human circadian rhythm, the daily pattern of wakefulness and sleep and how this can be either disrupted or adjusted, plus asking the important questions: why do we need sleep and what happens when we go without it?
The production was filmed during the pandemic in different locations across Europe. This story of self-exploration delves into the rise in sleep problems that people have experienced during the pandemic, telling the unsettling stories of four characters imprisoned in their own worlds and suffering in different ways from sleeping problems. The play stars Anusha Abbas (Nush), Akasha Daley (Aisha), Nelvin Kiratu (Soloman Salah) and Luis Riberio (Luis).
The play is directed by Yasmin Sidhwa, with filming by Ben Johnson and music from Duotone.
