Original Theatre Company announce UK tour of A SPLINTER OF ICE in addition to online stream

A Splinter of Ice

Original Theatre Company have announced that their first live stage production post-lockdown will be a UK tour of Ben Brown’s new political drama, A Splinter of Ice.

As previously announced, the production will also be available to stream online from 15 April-31 July, having been filmed on stage at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.

Directed by Alan Strachan with Alastair Whatley, A Splinter of Ice explores an unlikely friendship; a friendship interwoven with deceit and loyalty, and stars Oliver Ford Davies as Graham Greene and Stephen Boxer as Kim Philby. Sara Crow plays Rufa Philby in the online version but she is unavailable for the tour so casting for this character is to be announced.

Moscow 1987 and the cold war begins to thaw. After declining his offer for more than 30 years, novelist Graham Greene travels into the heart of the Soviet Union to meet with his old MI6 boss, Kim Philby. Under the watchful eye of Russian memoirist and Philby’s last wife, Rufa, the two men set about catching up on old times. With a new world order breaking out around them, how much did the writer of The Third Man know about Philby’s secret life as a spy and did Philby betray his friend as well as his country?

The UK tour will open on 8 June in Malvern, before visiting Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, Bath Theatre Royal, Edinburgh's King's Theatre and Southampton's MAST Mayflower Studios, with further dates to be revealed.
