Original Theatre Company announce all-star cast for Playwriting Award 2022
Original Theatre Company have announced an all-star cast for the script-in-hand performances of their three short-listed plays from the Originals Playwriting Award 2022.
Beginning today with Miles, written by Eilidh Nurse and directed by Amelia Sears. Set in Scotland at Bobby’s struggling caravan park, Janie is alone and struggling with her drinking and Ed who’s got a new job ……. at the caravan park. Hopes, dreams and families collide as past traumas are processed. Christian Ortega stars as Ed, with Hitfu Quasem as Janie, Gary Lewis as Bobby and Lewis MacKinnon as Elliot.
1 July sees Alex Kingston, Tyger Drew Honey, Adrian Lukis and Sara Stewart in The Fall written by Drew Hewitt and directed by Charlotte Peters. Janet and Liam are happily married until she stops talking to him and everyone else. There’s a secret buried in the depths of Janet’s psyche, that has implications not just for her, but also her entire family.
Followed by the final instalment is on 2 July with Tikkun Olam, written by Teunkie Van Der Sluijs and directed by Michael Boyd, with Luke Thompson as Dan, Diana Quick as Mary, Debbie Korley as Leah and Jake Fairbrother as Steve. Steve is preparing to stand as a Labour MP for Westminster, part of his campaign is backing the building of a holocaust memorial near Parliament Square. Tested to the limit as his campaign group try to persuade the divided community to back them, motivations both personal and political are challenged.
