Original Olivier Award winning cast of SUNNY AFTERNOON to perform at RushFest
It has been announced that the original Olivier Award-winning cast of Sunny Afternoon - The Kinks Musical will reunite for the first time in eight years to play a full live headline set at Rushfest on 2 September.
This one-day music festival in the Hertfordshire countryside is returning for its third year and is organised by West End stars, George Maguire (Bonnie & Clyde, West End) and Rachael Wooding (Pretty Woman, West End).
Sunny Afternoon smashed The Olivier Awards in 2014, picking up five awards including Best New Musical for its sell-out run at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The show tells the story of British rock legends The Kinks, written by Joe Penhall based on a story by Sir Ray Davies, with direction by Edward Hall.
Festival organisers said: “ We are so excited to have the full original Sunny Afternoon cast closing the festival this year. The music of The Kinks will be the perfect way to end our sunny afternoon in the field.”
The set will reportedly feature all the songs from the show in a 90-minute celebration of a great British rock band and a great piece of British theatre.
The festival is a wonderful family day out with an eclectic range of music. Other exciting acts performing on the day will be Anton Stephans (X Factor, Tarantino Live, Fisherman’s Friends), Charlotte Riby (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), and Kimberly Blake (Pretty Woman, West End), with further acts to be announced soon.
Tickets are now on sale for Rushfest here.
