Orange Tree Theatre announces full cast for UK premiere of Pamela Carter’s THE MISFORTUNE OF THE ENGLISH
The Orange Tree Theatre has announced the full cast for the UK premiere of The Misfortune of the English by Pamela Carter, directed by Oscar Toeman, which is set to run at the venue from 25 April-28 May.
Hubert Burton will play the role of Harrison, with Vinnie Heaven as Eaton, Eva Magyar as Tour Guide and Matthew Tennyson as Lyons.
The Misfortune of the English tells the inspired by true events story of 27 schoolboys who in 1936 arrived in Nazi Germany for a seven-day walking tour of the Black Forest, led by their teacher. But that evening, local villages are sent out to search for them in a blizzard. A story of misadventure, blind optimism, nationhood, and courage in the face of disaster.
The production will also play a livestreamed performance via OT on Screen on 12 May with the show then becoming available to stream from 31 May-3 June.
Artistic Director of the Orange Tree Theatre, Paul Miller, said: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome such a talented company for The Misfortune of the English, each of them making their OT debuts in Oscar Toeman’s production. Pamela Carter’s highly original play, based on real events, tackles the nature of memory of storytelling, our relation to Europe and the problems of leadership.”
