A brand new musical has been announced, loosely based on Martin Scorcese’s 1977 film New York, New York, which is set to open on Broadway in March 2023.

The production will feature John Kander and Fred Ebb’s original songs from the movie, with Lin-Manuel Miranda writing additional lyrics for new numbers by Kander, a book by David Thompson, co-written by Sharon Washington, direction and choreography by Tony and Olivier Award winner Susan Stroman, music supervision and arrangements by Sam Davis, orchestrations by Davis and Daryl Waters, vocal arrangements by David Loud, music direction by Alvin Hough Jr, and casting by Jim Carnahan and Jason Thinger.

Like the film, the show will be set in post-war 1946, but the focus will be about a city in recovery, with inclusive casting and storyline.

Further information will be announced in due course.
