New #WomenWhoWrite initiative to promote female-identifying musical theatre writers

Women Who Write

Cat Bensley, Flossie Golightly Productions and 10glo.com have joined forces to create #WomenWhoWrite, a brand new initiative that encourages women from around the world to share their original musical theatre songs.

As female and female-identifying writers are underrepresented across the musical theatre genre, this scheme is hoped to drive awareness to these artists and support their voices.

The promoters are looking for video submissions of either:

  • Stand-alone songs with a clear narrative.

  • Songs from a musical you are working on.

They are particularly interested in musicals or stories about women and their lived experiences.

All submissions should be uploaded to free video platform for theatre artists, 10glo.com, and then shared to Twitter with the hashtag #WomenWhoWrite.

Submissions must be uploaded by the end of the day on 30 November 2020.

Eight songs will then be shortlisted and performed and streamed on 10glo.

Writer Cat Bensley said: “10glo is using the power of the internet to showcase new and emerging voices in musical theatre like nobody else is in the space, and we are thrilled to partner with them on this vital call-to-action.”
