Sleeping Beauty Theatre Royal Nottingham

Nottingham’s Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall has announced an exciting new season of comedy, drama, opera, musical theatre, panto and classical music from February 2021.

Headlining the season will be the Kanneh-Masons, with all seven siblings aged from 11-24 years performing on 14 February. The concert will feature a programme of music by Beethoven, Mozart, Bartok, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Eric Whitacre, and Joseph Stein.

For musical fans, there will be a week-long run of cinema screenings of hit West End productions from 10-14 February, including An American in Paris, 42nd Street, Kinky Boots, Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes and The Wind in the Willows.

Jimmy Carr brings stand-up comedy to the venue from 18-20 February, with funny man Joe Pasquale starring in John Godber’s touching and hilarious play, April in Paris, from 15-17 March.

Perennial favourite The Colin McIntyre Classical Thriller Season returns for a special three-week season of head-scratching, nerve-jangling murder mystery plays from 22 February – 13 March and families can enjoy socially distanced pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, from 27 March – 11 April featuring comedy legends Paul Chuckle and Ben Nickless, with street dance stars Flawless.

Another treat for theatre fans will be JINGAH!, a spectacular musical production on 19 & 20 March featuring giant bioluminescent puppets, a fire-breathing violinist, flying opera singers and a troupe of Cirque du Soleil acrobats.

Venue Director for the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall Peter Ireson said: “Working with both new and established artists and companies, the season of socially distanced events we’ve announced today will form a critical first step in our recovery, and, we hope, a first step on the path to re-opening at full capacity later next year.  It’s vital to rebuild our audiences’ confidence in returning to see a live performance, and for them to fall in love with it all over again.   Whilst we cannot open under the current restrictions, we are optimistic that by February we will be able to do so.  We cannot wait to welcome audiences and performers back into this glorious space, we’ve missed them all so much.”
