New musical Suddenly to be streamed online early 2021
The cast for SUDDENLY: A Short New Musical has been announced by new production company DHB Theatrical.
This new 30-minute musical is the work of producer Dean Gild and singer-songwriter Jordie Race-Coldrey.
The show will be filmed on stage this December in Melbourne, Australia, before it streams worldwide early next year.
Film has been a central consideration in the show’s design, as musical theatre is married to modern camera techniques.
Against the backdrop of the pandemic, SUDDENLY explores the importance of family, trauma and taking life for granted.
Katie Weston and Kara Sims star as mother and daughter Lindsay and Max, who are forced to reconcile their crumbling relationship when they become stuck in adjoining carriages on a broken-down train.
Emerging talents Conor Putland and Sunny S Walia are part of a supporting cast, showcasing some of Australia’s rising stars.
The rest of the actors include: Nabs Adnan, Jessica Barton, Allegra Brown, Caitlyn De Kuyper, Luisa D’Intini, Jack Duff, Darcey Eagle, Akansha Hungenahally, Noah Janssen, Tamanna Kaul, Ali Moshopoulos, Jake O’Brien, Chiara Petralia, Asmara Soekotjo, Aadhya Wijegoonawardena, Emma Wilby and Jack Wyss.
Arranger and orchestrator Ned Wright-Smith directs the “contemporary pop/rock” score.
Making up the creative team is choreographer Mia Brown, scenic designer Ebony McMaster, cinematographer Alex Campbell and dramaturge Aidan Khan.
