New musical Snowflake to launch with visual EP
A brand new musical, Snowflake, is set to launch next week with an innovative visual EP. The project, which has been in development for two years, hopes to help emerging work during what is otherwise a scary time for the industry.
Snowflake is described as a kaleidoscopic show, in which a group of millennials navigate relationships, virtue-signalling, sexual identity and avocados. The musical challenges society’s obsession with labels and asks how we can define our own stories.
The 15-minute visual EP, created by Lewis Cornay, will star Emma Lucia (Once), Adam Bailey (The Book of Mormon) and Lawrence Smith (Avenue Q). The piece has also been supported by many 2020 acting graduates and West End performers such as Grace Mouat (& Juliet) and Rob Houchen (Les Miserables).
The EP’s director, Matt Powell, said: "During this time we wondered what the best way to launch Snowflake would be. Seeing as an integral part of the show is centered around the internet, this seemed like an interesting blend of worlds!”
The premiere of Snowflake will broadcast on Thursday 6 August at 6pm on the MPTheatricals YouTube channel. A live-reading of the script will also be held as part of ‘The Zoom Where It Happens’, taking place between 3-5 August.
