The upcoming musical film adaptation of Cyrano has delayed its UK release date, due to the surge in Omicron Covid-19 cases.

The film, which has been adapted by Erica Schmidt from Edmond Rostand’s original story Cyrano de Bergerac, features Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage in the title role.

A man ahead of his time, Cyrano de Bergerac is yet to declare his feelings for his devoted friend Roxanne (Hayley Bennett), adamant that his appearance renders him unworthy of love. Roxanne has just fallen in love with Christian (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.) and with the help of Cyrano’s dazzling wordplay, manages to woo Roxanne in a modern retelling of the heart-breaking love triangle.

Directed by Joe Wright, music is by Aaron & Bryce Dessner, with lyrics by Matt Berninger & Carin Besser.

The film was due to released on 14 January but has now been pushed back to 25 February. It will still have a limited release in the United States from 28 January with a wider release following.
