New casting announced for INTO THE WOODS on Broadway

The acclaimed New York City Center Encores! production of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical Into The Woods has announced that it will extend its run until 16 October, with a predominantly new cast taking over from 6 September.

Joining the cast will be Stephanie J. Block, who replaces Sara Bareilles as the Baker’s Wife, Sebastian Arcelus who takes over from Brian D’Arcy James as the Baker, Krysta Rodriguez replacing Phillipa Soo as Cinderella, Katy Geraghty playing Little Red Riding Hood after Julia Lester departs, and Jim Stanek as the Steward (replacing David Turner).

It has also been announced that Montego Glover will share the role of The Witch with Patina Miller. Miller will play The Witch for performances from Friday-Sunday, and Glover will take over the role on Tuesday-Thursday shows.

Gavin Creel and Joshua Henry will continue on as Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince and Rapunzel’s Prince, respectively. Although Andy Karl will play the role of the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince from 6-15 September.

From 27 September, Ann Harada will reprise her role of Jack’s Mother from the City Center Encores! production. Aymee Garcia continues as Jack’s Mother until 25 September.

Completing the cast and continuing with the production are Ta’Nika Gibson, Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, David Patrick Kelly, Nancy Opel, Cole Thompson, Alysia Velez, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan, and Lucia Spina.

Into the Woods has direction by Lear deBessonet, with music direction by Rob Berman and choreography by Lorin Latarro.
