Artistic Director of the National Theatre, Rufus Norris, has revealed his programming plans going forward post-pandemic.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Norris revealed two programming models: one with social distancing and another with full capacity. He anticipates fewer extravagant shows in the immediate future but production values will not be sacrificed because of this.

In exciting news, he has also promised "a musical-a-year going forward". Recent musicals staged at the venue include the award-winning Follies and Hadestown. The acclaimed musical production of Sheffield Crucible’s Standing at the Sky’s Edge was due to run at the National last year but these plans were sadly disrupted by the pandemic.

The venue is currently scheduled to open in June. To view the upcoming programme, please click here.
