Musical theatre star Melissa Jacques brings one woman show to London

Fresh from the UK tour of I Should Be So Lucky, star of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Melissa Jacques, is bringing her brand new one woman show, Songs My Father Told Me I Should Sing, to the Phoenix Arts Club on 8 July.

In a deeply personal musical journey, Melissa will share songs from inspirational artists her dad introduced her to, as a kid growing up in Sheffield, when the dream of one day standing on a West End stage seemed impossible. From first auditions, TV talent shows and drama school, to first jobs, West End musicals and national tours, Melissa will also be performing some of her favourite songs from shows she has appeared in, along with one or two she hasn’t.

The music of icons such as Barbara Streisand and Cyndi Lauper, and songs from Mamma Mia, Wicked, and of course Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, will all be performed by Melissa Jacques and her band, in a very special evening.

Melissa will be joined on the night by special guest and star of Six and Wicked, Nikki Bentley.

Songs My Father Told Me I Should Sing has musical direction and arrangements by Sam Hall, and is co-written and directed by Jamie Alexander Wilson.
