Musical drama Yellow Rose starring Eva Noblezada & Lea Salonga to be released next month

Yellow Rose

Award-winning musical drama Yellow Rose, starring Eva Noblezada and Lea Salonga, will receive an official release on 9 October 2020, as reported over the weekend by The Hollywood Reporter.

Yellow Rose has already received wide acclaim from the critics, picking up several awards at the Asian American International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

The film is directed by Diane Paragas and stars Tony Award nominee Noblezada (Hadestown, Miss Saigon) as Rose, an undocumented Filipina who dreams of being a country music star. She is joined by Tony Award winner Salonga (Once On This Island, Miss Saigon), Princess Punzalan (Mula Sa Puso), Dale Watson (Friday Night Lights), Gustavo Gomez (The Walking Dead), Libby Villari (Boyhood), and Liam Booth (Ghosts Never Sleep).

Paragas said: “Yellow Rose has been a labour of passion for over 15 years and I’m thrilled that we can now share this very relevant story with the world. We have the added honour of representing the real experiences of Filipino Americans, Asian Americans, and all immigrants seeking a better life in America.”

The screenplay for Yellow Rose has been written by Paragas, Annie Howell and Celena Cipriaso, based on a story by Paragas and Andy Bienen. It also features original songs written and composed by Dale Watson, Thia Megia, Paragas and Noblezada.
