Morgan Freeman leads TomorrowTix’s next pay-what-you-can series of play readings
What would you say if we said you could have Morgan Freeman and friends in your living room for as little as $5? Theatre lovers everywhere will be able to watch live Broadway play-readings from their living rooms starting next week, as TomorrowTix (formerly TodayTix) launches their live-streamed series of rehearsed readings, entitled Spotlight on Plays.
Starting with Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, which enjoyed a run in the West End at The Playhouse Theatre in 2018, viewers can pay what they can afford to see Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Vanessa Williams, and Matthew Broderick to name but a few, take on the politically-charged drama.
This seven-play series also includes a reunion of the Time Stands Still Original Broadway Cast to mark its 10th Anniversary. The cast includes Brian d’Arcy James and Laura Linney. It was nominated for Best Play and Best Leading Actress for Laura Linney at the 2010 Tony Awards.
Although the plays will be live-streamed at 8pm EST (1am GMT (+1)), they’ll be available to stream for a further 72 hours so you don’t have to worry about staying up late to tune in!
Live streams start on Wednesday 14 October with all proceeds going to The Actors Fund.
