Ian McKellen will star in a brand new world premiere production of Hamlet at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 2-28 August, it has been announced.

McKellen is familiar with Hamlet, having played the role twice in productions 50 years apart! In this new performance concept, he will perform with the Edinburgh Festival Ballet Company and share the rôle of Hamlet with lead dancer Johan Christiansen.

The production is directed and choreographed by Peter Schaufuss, with original music composed by Ethan Lewis Maltby and design by Ben M Rogers.

Hamlet will play at new performance venue Ashton Hall at Saint Stephens Edinburgh, with tickets on sale now here.
