Cameron Mackintosh, along with First Night Records and Warner Music, have officially released the brand new live cast recording of the award-winning West End production of Mary Poppins today.

The Definitive Supercalifragilistic 2020 Cast Recording: Live at the Prince Edward Theatre features original music and lyrics by The Sherman Brothers, new songs and additional music by Olivier award-winning writing duo, Stiles and Drewe, and orchestrations by William David Brohn. Based on P.L Travers classic stories and the original Disney film, the musical production has a book by Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, with the show co-created by Mackintosh himelf. Thomas Schumacher produces on behalf of Disney Theatrical Productions.

The stage version of Mary Poppins returned to its original London home, the Prince Edward Theatre, in October 2019 which was the first time that this new production had been seen in the capital city. It boasts new technical designs including sound by Paul Gatehouse, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and Natasha Katz, co-choreography by Stephen Mear, set and costumes by Bob Crowley, co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and direction by Richard Eyre.

The adult company who can be heard on this recording include: Zizi Strallen as Mary Poppins, Charlie Stemp as Bert, Joseph Millson as George Banks, Petula Clark as the Bird Woman, Amy Griffiths as Winifred Banks, Claire Moore as Miss Andrew, Claire Machin as Mrs Brill, Jack North as Robertson Ay and Paul F Monaghan as Bank Chairman and Admiral Boom.    

The original Olivier and Evening Standard award-winning production of Mary Poppins opened in December 2004, where it ran for over 1,250 performances. The Tony award-winning Broadway production ran for over six years and a subsequent new production has enjoyed record-breaking runs across the globe.

It is planned that this successful new production will return to the West End as soon as it is feasible in 2021, once social distancing restrictions have been removed from theatres.
