MALLORY AND THE MOUNTAIN to play Storyhouse Chester with West End cast

West End stars will perform in a unique, one-night-only concert at Storyhouse in Chester, offering musical theatre fans a rare opportunity to experience the songs of brand new musical, Mallory and the Mountain, on 19 October.

Mallory and the Mountain has been created by Ollie Mills, with previews at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre and the Lowry, as is part of Imaginality Production‘s mission to create innovative musicals rooted in Northern stories.

The cast includes Chris Jared (Amelie) in the title role of Mountaineer George Mallory, Rebecca Gilliland (Wicked) as Ruth Mallory, Benjamin Karran (Les Miserables) as Mallory’s climbing partner Sandy Irvine, Joseph Richardson (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical) in multiple roles, Eliza Waters (Heathers) in multiple roles and Gavin James (Les Miserables: The Staged Concert) in multiple roles.

Based on an inspiring true story, Mallory and the Mountain is a new musical that recounts an adventurous life that begins with an ambitious young boy in Cheshire, climbing to the top of a church tower and having visions of a world beyond his wildest imagination.

With a powerful score that combines folk-rock with cinematic soundscapes to bring Everest to life, the show unpacks mountaineering’s biggest mystery in a story of courage, conquest and the price of dreams.
