Lyric Hammersmith announces reopening season in early 2021

Lyric Hammersmith

The Lyric Hammersmith has announced its upcoming reopening programme, which includes a revival of Iphigenia in Splott, starring Sophie Melville.

Directed by Artistic Director Rachel O’Riordan, the two-hander play will run from 22 January – 13 February 2021 to socially distanced audiences in the venue’s main house.

This will be followed by Sancho: An Act of Remembrance, which will be written, directed and performed by Paterson Joseph. The play tells the story of the first black British man to vote. It will run from 25 February – 20 March 2021.

O’Riordan said: "I am delighted that we can today announce shows for our audiences, returning to do what we do best, producing great work with great artists, in our beautiful theatre.”

Before the theatre’s reopening in early 2021, it will work on several community projects, including its first large-scale community production.

Two new digital projects conducted with schools in Hammersmith and Fulham will also be led by artistic associates, Tinuke Craig and Simon Stephens; one addressing climate change and another exploring identity and race.
