Liverpool Theatres jointly announce reopening seasons with new partnership
Liverpool’s Everyman, Playhouse, Royal Court and Unity theatres have today announced a reopening season that they will promote together. They will also sell tickets to each other’s shows as part of a new partnership that hopes to encourage audiences back to live performance.
YEP Director’s Fest will be the first show with an in-person audience at the Everyman, scheduled to run from 1-12, with the Playhouse hoping to welcome back live audiences for Apphia Campbell and Meredith Yarbrough’s Woke from 24-26 June.
The Everyman hopes to be back to full capacity in September for the return of Jonathan Harvey’s Our Lady of Blundellsands, which was cancelled mid-run due to the lockdown. The show is scheduled to run from 17 September- 9 October. Other productions planned for this venue include Majid Mehdizadeh’s Y’MAM, Jonathan Larkin’s new piece Cherry Jezebel, and Lauren Silver’s Get Ready With Me: A Clown Show.
The Playhouse has also announced plans to stage Under The Mask by junior doctor Shaan Sahota, The Greatest Play in the History of the World starring Julie Hesmondhalgh, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a stage production of the theatre’s lockdown audio series, Love Liverpool.
Liverpool’s Royal Court will welcome back audiences for Gerry Linford’s new comedy Ellen and Rigby, from 2-31 July with other productions including Bouncers from 13 August to 11 September and Red Ladder’s co-production Homebaked – The Musical on 23 & 24 September.
Jonathan Harvey’s Swan Song will be the first live production at the Unity Theatre, running from 1-3 July. The venue will also play host to The Storm Shepherd, Sleepover and Pram Talk, a trilogy of work from All Things Considered, A Home for Grief, Good Grief and Outside the Igloo.
