It’s opening up again, Besties! The Wall Street Journal has reported that a limited revival of hit musical Waitress is in planning, produced by Barry Weissler and led by the show’s Tony-nominated composer, Sara Bareilles.

Barielles is no stranger to playing the lead role of Jenna, having performed three stints on Broadway and one engagement in the West End.

The original Broadway run closed at the Brook Atkinson Theatre in January 2020, after becoming the longest-running musical at the venue.

Based on the 2007 film of the same name, Waitress is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots. It features a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by six-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Barielles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

Further information will follow in due course.
