Les Miserables tops BBC Radio 2 poll of Top 20 musical numbers of all time
Les Miserables has claimed the top two positions in a BBC Radio 2 poll to find the Top 20 musical numbers of all time.
The countdown was featured on Elaine Paige’s Sunday show this afternoon (which you can listen to here), following an initial list being created by Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail, musical theatre star Marisha Wallace, Sita McIntosh from Whatsonstage and of course, EP herself.
‘One Day More’ from Les Miserables claimed the coveted top spot as the best musical number of all time, with ‘Bring Him Home’ taking the number two position. ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked came in at number 3, with The Greatest Showman’s This Is Me at number 4 and ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ from The Wizard of Oz at number 5.
West Side Story and Hamilton also claimed two spots each in the poll, created as part of the BBC’s bumper musicals celebration weekend.
