Lead casting announced for new musical IDENTICAL
Lead casting has been announced for the world premiere of the musical Identical, based on Erich Kästner's much-loved novel The Parent Trap.
After a massive nationwide search, three sets of identical twins have been found to star in the show. Kyla and Nicole Fox, age 12, from County Armagh, Northern Ireland, Emme and Eden Patrick, age 12, from Waltham Abbey and Sienna and Savannah Robinson, age 12, from Bromley, will play the central characters Lottie and Lisa.
Identical tells the story of twin girls who were separated in their infancy but reunite at a summer camp several years later, and decide to swap identities as a ploy to get their divorced parents back together. The story has previously inspired two successful Disney films in 1961 and 1998.
The musical opens at Nottingham Playhouse from 26 July-4 August 2022, before transferring to Salford's The Lowry from 19 August-3 September. Further dates are to be announced.
The show has music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and a book by Stuart Paterson, with direction by Trevor Nunn.
