Acclaimed British stage and screen actor Kenneth Branagh will play British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in planned Sky TV drama, This Sceptred Isle.

Sky Atlantic will air the five-part drama series, which will follow the events surrounding the PM, the government and UK as a country during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The series is based on factual information collected from people based at Number 10 Downing Street, the Department of Health, The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), and from hospitals and care homes across the country.

This Sceptred Isle has been co-written by Michael Winterbottom and Kieron Quirke, with Winterbottom also directing.

Filming is due to commence soon and the series is expected to air in Autumn 2022.
