Full casting has been announced for the revival of Mark Gatiss’ acclaimed adaptation of A Christmas Carol, which plays at Nottingham Playhouse from 27 October-18 November and Alexandra Palace Theatre from 24 November 2023 - 7 January 2024.

Star of stage and screen Keith Allen (Robin Hood, BBC; The Homecoming, Theatre Royal Bath) will play the role of Scrooge, alongside Peter Forbes (Follies, National Theatre) as Marley, Leona Allen (The Devil’s Hour, Amazon Prime) as Caroline, James Backway (War Horse, National Theatre/West End) as Fred, Geoffrey Beevers (Amadeus, National Theatre) as Narrator, Angelina Chudi (Henry VI: War of the Roses, RSC) as Belle, Edward Harrison (Queenie, Channel 4) as Bob Cratchit, Bettrys Jones (The Art of Illusion, Hampstead Theatre) as Ghost of Christmas Past, Joe Shire (Witness for the Prosecution, Eleanor Lloyd) as Fezziwig/Ghost of Christmas Present, Rebecca Trehearn (ALW’s Cinderella, West End) as Mrs Cratchit, and Ryan Weston (Herons, Italia Conti) as Tiny Tim.

In Nottingham, the role of Edwin Cratchit will be shared by William Barker and Charlie Westlake, while Grace Cratchit will be shared by Madison Spencer-Ogiorumua and Ava-Jade Wolstenholme.

In London, Edwin Cratchit will be shared by Joshua Beswick, Oliver Dawson, and Alex Gross, and Grace Cratchit shared by Esme Gupta-Wright, Anaya-Sky Lueshing, and Cherry Mitra.

Filled with Dickensian, spine-tingling special effects, prepare to be frightened and delighted in equal measure as you enter the supernatural Victorian world of A Christmas Carol.

The production is directed by Adam Penford, with set design by Paul Wills, lighting by Philip Gladwell, sound by Ella Wahlström, video design by Nina Dunn for PixelLux, movement direction by Georgina Lamb, composition by Tingying Dong, illusions by John Bulleid, casting by Ginny Schiller CDG, children’s casting by Verity Naughton CDG, puppet design and direction by Matthew Forbes, and musical direction by Tom Attwood (Musical Director).
