Julie Atherton joins star-studded cast of Sky Original THE AMAZING MAURICE

Sky have announced further casting for the film adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett’s The Amazing Maurice, including musical theatre star Julie Atherton, Ariyon Bakare, Rob Brydon, Joe Sugg, and David Tennant.

They join the already stellar line-up of stars including Gemma Arterton, Hugh Bonneville, Emilia Clarke, Hugh Laurie, Himesh Patel, and David Thewlis.

Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking rats.  When Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, they meet a bookworm called Malicia and their little con soon goes down the drain.

Based on Pratchett’s 2001 children’s fantasy novel The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, the film is a lively and entertaining adventure inspired by the German fairy tale about the Pied Piper of Hamelin and a parody of the folk tale genre. 

The Sky Original film will be released on Sky Cinema in 2022, and it will also be available on streaming service NOW via the Sky Cinema Membership.
