Jonathan Groff to star in world premiere of new musical JUST IN TIME on Broadway

It has been announced that Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff (Merrily We Roll Along, Hamilton) will return to Broadway as Bobby Darin in the world premiere of the new musical Just In Time, which will begin performances on 28 March 2025 at the Circle in the Square Theatre.

Developed and directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers, Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre will be transformed into an intimate, immersive night club where the great American entertainer’s meteoric journey - from soaring highs to crushing lows – is brought to life by Groff, a cast of sixteen, and features a live on-stage big band performing Bobby Darin’s iconic hits including ‘Beyond the Sea’, ‘Splish Splash’, ‘Dream Lover’, and ‘Mack the Knife’.

Full casting and the creative team will be announced soon.

Just In Time has a book by Tony Award winner Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver, musical supervision and arrangements by Andrew Resnick, choreography by Shannon Lewis, and is based on an original concept by Ted Chapin.

Producers Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and John Frost said: “We are honored to celebrate the legacy of the great Bobby Darin with the inimitable Jonathan Groff under the visionary direction of Alex Timbers. Just in time indeed!”

Groff (also serving as a producer on the project) said: “Bobby Darin was a supernova. He blazed his way through every corner of the entertainment industry, but his enormous talent, charisma, and pure genius were most on display when he was letting it rip in front of a crowd. This primal passionate love affair he had with the audience was the inspiration for our show's conceit. Alex Timber's distinctive ability to make going to the theater an unforgettable event and Bobby's signature musicality and explosive fleeting life make Broadway the perfect place to experience the story and essence of this once in a lifetime talent.”
