Universal Pictures has announced that the Director of the upcoming In the Heights movie adaptation, Jon M Chu, will direct the eagerly awaited Wicked film.

The musical’s book writer Winnie Holzman and composer Stephen Schwartz are collaborating on the screenplay, and Chu replaces Stephen Daldry, who backed out of the project last year.

No official release date or casting has been announced yet.
