Joel Harper-Jackson steps in to cover Taron Egerton during first preview of COCK

Understudy Joel Harper-Jackson stepped into the breach last night when Taron Egerton fainted during the first preview of Cock.

Now playing a limited run at the Ambassadors Theatre in London’s West End, Egerton collapsed 15-minutes prior to the end of the performance, which initiated a 40-minute show stop whilst Egerton was seen to by a doctor in the audience. Whilst he said he felt fine at the scene, Harper-Jackson finished the performance in his place.

It is thought that the fainting episode was due to the heat onstage during the performance. The stage lights bouncing off the reflective set design would have increased the temperature for the actors.

We wish Taron a speedy recovery and greatly applaud Joel for being the hero of the evening.
