Following news that Iris Theatre, the resident theatre company of the Actors’ Church in Covent Garden, will be one of the twelve new beneficiaries of Sir Ian McKellen’s 80th Birthday tour, the company’s Artistic Director Paul-Ryan Carberry has today announced the company’s winter season.

Iris Theatre’s first indoor winter show opens on 4 November with Signal Fires, which will reunite the creative team of their postponed production, Fragments. Potential Difference will invite audiences into the grounds of the Actors Church where audiences will use lanterns to search for a trail of clues to invoke and honour performers of the past, present and future.

From 3-5 December, Ivor Novello award-winning choir Mediaeval Baebes will perform songs from their catalogue, celebrating the release of their tenth studio album.

From 19-26 December, the company will present The Snow Queen: An Online Storytelling Adventure. Iris Theatre is excited to present this interactive, online storytelling adventure for audiences aged 4+. New technology will be used to allow families to participate in the story and they can also download a free activity pack filled with fun games and craft ideas based on the show.

The venue will also continue its PLATFORM initiative hosting monthly showcases throughout 2021, championing and supporting arts from a variety of disciplines. The first two of these events will take place on 29 January and 26 February.

St Anne Comes Home will return to the Actors Church from 8-14 February, following a five star sell-out run previously. Written by Jack Miles, this new musical tells the story of two people striking up an unlikely friendship, with James having spent years running away from his problems and Bridget living a life where she is trapped by hers. This story of community, fear and forgiveness is told through original folk music.
