Iris Theatre announce programming for EYES ON

Eyes On

Iris Theatre have announced Eyes On, a programme of one-off events as part of their Summer Festival 2021, which will take place in the gardens of the Actors’ Church in Covent Garden.

Eyes On plans to put the spotlight onto fresh and exciting new talent. Amongst the events announced is The Grad Fest, who will present Rearranged; an actor-musician graduate showcase on 22 July, directed by Anthony Underwood and with musical direction by Ben Barrow. The concert aims to showcase the talent of the UK’s actor-musician graduates from 2020 and 2021, as many missed out on the opportunity to take part in a showcase last year.

BLUD, a one-man storytelling performance, is both written and performed by Yan Toby-Amisi (Far Away, Donmar Warehouse) and is due to be performed on 29 July. This hard-hitting piece uses rap, poetry, and prose and is about growing up black in the jungle – or as we know it, the hood. Yan Toby-Amisi is also a hip-hop artist under the name ‘Talla’.

Artistic Director of Iris Theatre, Paul-Ryan Carberry, said: “These pop-up events offer our audiences yet more opportunities to enjoy and celebrate the return of live performance as part of our fantastic summer festival, and in particular see the work of the industry’s most exciting new talent. Make no mistake, the gardens of The Actors’ Church will be absolutely buzzing with talent over the coming months, and we can’t wait to throw our gates open on 21st June and let you all in.”

Tickets are £12 and are available via the website. All in-person events will have social distancing restrictions in place, and face coverings must be worn. Further information is available here
