Celia Imrie, Jonathan Bailey, Samuel Barnett & others join the cast of What A Carve Up!

What A Carve Up cast

Full casting has been announced today for What A Carve Up! Based on Jonathan Coe’s critically acclaimed satirical novel, this new play will be receiving its digital world premiere on 31 October, with streaming available through to 29 November. It is produced in a collaboration between The Barn Theatre Cirencester, Lawrence Batley Theatre and New Wolsey Theatre.

It has been confirmed that Jonathan Bailey will be joining the cast as Henry Winshaw, alongside Dervia Kirvan as the Brunwin Advert, Celia Imrie as Joan Simpson, Robert Bathurst as Thomas Winshaw and Samuel Barnett as Michael Owen.

They join the previously announced cast, consisting of Fiona Button as Josephine Winshaw-Eaves, Sharon D. Clarke as Kim Bolton, Rebecca Front as Hilary Winshaw, Griff Rhys Jones as John Stephens, Alfred Enoch as Raymond Owen, Tamzin Outhwaite as Interviewer 2020 and Stephen Fry as Patrick Mills. The cast also includes Catrin Aaron, Julian Harries, Jamie Ballard, Jack Dixon, Lizzie Muncey and James McNicholas.

This new digital piece of theatre, directed by Tamara Harvey, tells of the events leading up to the Winshaw Murders in a story full of murder, mayhem and madness. This murder mystery turns a satirical eye on what it is like to a member of one of the most corrupt, powerful and toxic families in the country.

Tamara Harvey said: “There are some casts so dazzling that my job, as a director, is to not get in the way. This is one of them. My only sadness, of course, is that we don’t get to be in the rehearsal room together. But the fact that these brilliant actors have all agreed to create this piece to raise money for regional theatres is one of the ways we’re all still fighting to ensure that there will still be rehearsals rooms across the country, somewhere, somehow, in our future.”

What A Carve Up! is written by Henry Filloux-Bennett (Nigel Slater’s Toast) and based on the award winning novel by Jonathan Coe. The sound design is by Harry Smith with Annie May Fletcher as production coordinator and Holly Piggott as set designer.
