Immersive Acting School at IMMERSIVE LDN now running in March 2022
The previously announced joint venture between Olivier Award-winning producers Louis Hartshorn and Brian Hook and Butterfly Theatre to launch an Immersive Acting School, has today announced that they have had to postpone their course dates until March 2022.
Immersive Everywhere are due to hold their courses at West End venue Immersive LDN, the home of The Great Gatsby and Doctor Who Time Fracture. They were due to start the courses in January but took the decision to postpone with the Omicron covid situation being so prevalent.
The first immersive acting school will offer three part time courses, which will run over a 6-week period: a foundation, a specialist and an intensive acting course.
The foundation course for non-professional actors will now run from 7 March to 11 April. The same dates will apply for the specialist course for graduate level actors. The intensive acting course for experience immersive actors will run from 6 March to 10 April.
Potential students will be able to join a free taster session online via Zoom on 24 January from 7-9pm or on Zoom'/in person at Immersive LDN on 14 February between 2-4pm.
The courses will be training actors with a new method - The Gonsalves Method - which is rooted within The Meisner Technique and will teach professionally trained, conventional actors in a different world of acting and open up a different immersive world for them.
The Gonsalves Method is led by Aileen Gonsalves, who is the RSC Director and Artistic Director of Butterfly Theatre and has spent 10 years developing the method.
Students joining the course will enjoy benefits such as becoming part of the Hartshorn – Hook and Butterfly Theatre communities, first invitations to audition for Hartshorn-Hook and Butterfly Theatre productions, access to weekly drop in evening classes, invites to open dress rehearsals and discounts on food and drink in The Lucky Club.
