Imelda Staunton to headline new production of HELLO, DOLLY! at London Palladium next summer
It has been announced that Imelda Staunton will lead a revival of Hello, Dolly at the London Palladium from 6 July-14 September 2024.
Directed by Dominic Cooke, Staunton will play Dolly Levi — a role that she signed on to play back in 2019. Originally planned to open in summer of 2020, the show was postponed by both the pandemic and Staunton’s filming schedule on Netflix’s The Crown.
Imelda Staunton said: “I’m delighted that we are announcing our new production of Hello, Dolly!, which is a truly joyous show. I am also thrilled to be working again with Dominic Cooke and Michael Harrison. Dolly Levi is one of the great characters in musical theatre, and I can’t wait to join the company in bringing our new production to the iconic London Palladium.”
Other initial casting includes Andy Nyman (Fiddler on the Roof, Menier Chocolate Factory) as Horace Vandergelder, Jenna Russell (Flowers for Mrs Harris, Riverside Studios) as Irene Molloy, Tyrone Huntley (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) as Barnaby Tucker, and Harry Hepple (Follies, National Theatre) as Cornelius Hackl.
The musical features sets and costumes by Rae Smith, choreography Bill Deamer, sound by Paul Groothuis, musical supervision, musical direction and arrangements by Nick Skilbeck, lighting by Jon Clark, and video design by Finn Ross.
Priority booking will open on 6 December.
