A documentary about the life of Oscar award-winning lyricist Howard Ashman will be available to stream on Disney Plus from 7 August.

Titled Howard, the special programme follows his earlier years in Baltimore and New York, through his longstanding career working on Little Shop of Horrors, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid to name a few, until his premature death from AIDS in 1991, aged just 40.

The film features both personal and professional interviews including those from legendary composer Alan Menken, Disney voice artists including Jodi Benson and Paige O’Hara, and his partner Bill Lauch.

If you are not currently subscribed to Disney Plus, please do so here so you can enjoy the show on its release along with so much more that the streaming service has to offer.
