Hit musical Spamalot set for movie adaptation directed by Casey Nicholaw

It has been announced that Paramount Pictures have acquired the rights to hit musical Spamalot, and that the studio will mount a movie adaptation of the popular production. The film will be produced by Dan Jinks and Eric Idle, with plans to get casting underway this year.

The comedy is an adaptation of the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The Broadway production was a huge hit, taking home Tony Awards for Best Musical and Director for the late Mike Nichols. Casey Nicholaw choreographed the original musical, which went on to great success across the globe.

The musical tells the legendary story of King Arthur and is full of tongue in cheek just like the movie. It features a number of the film’s most famous moments such as The Knights of Ni, the sickly Not Dead Fred, the black Knight whose arms and legs are cut off by King Arthur, the Killer Rabbit and the Holy Hand Grenade.

No further details have been revealed about when the film may be released but as soon as we know Besties, we will let you know.
